1,2,3,4-tetrahydrocarbazole can be used as an intermediate in pharmaceutical synthesis, prepared by reacting phenylhydrazine hydrochloride with cyclohexanone, or by reacting indole reactants with 1,4-dibromobutane, PdCl2 (MeCN) 2, and norbornene. 2,3,4,9-Tetrahydro-1H-carbazole is also used in the production of dyes.
